Our French Dark Roast is a more severe pleasure, drawn from some of our highest-scoring African coffees and taken deep into the roast until the cup turns full, dark, and commanding. The beans emerge with a polished oil sheen, like black lacquer catching firelight, and brew into something brooding, weighty, and unmistakably intense. Bittersweet at its core, this coffee trades brightness for gravitas, offering a low-acid cup with a darker register and a finish that lingers like smoke on velvet. It is not delicate, nor is it meant to be. This is coffee for those who want depth without apology and a roast that carries itself with authority.
Yet beneath that charmed severity is precision. The quality of the African coffees remains present in the structure of the cup, giving the roast a firm backbone rather than blunt force alone. Our French Dark Roast is suited to predawn silence, iron-gray mornings, and any hour that calls for something fuller, darker, and more exacting.
